Our aim is to find the best Mario Kart driver and Street Fighter err… Fighter in Manchester. We’re holding an event on Thursday, 25th June to celebrate our month-long #16bitDreams campaign.

We’ve got a floor to ceiling projector, two competitor podiums and they’re all set up in one of the Northern Quarter’s coolest and most original venues, Texture.

If you haven’t heard of Street Fighter or Mario Kart, well… There was a time when games used to come loaded on small plastic cartridges, which you plugged into a bigger plastic box (called a console), which looked a bit like this.

Why is this a good thing? No buffering, no lag, just straight down the middle beautiful games. You might have to blow the dust out of each of the cartridges every now and again though…

So, if you think you can cut the mustard and roll with the big guns, the event is completely free, but you do need to register your interest in the tournament as places are limited.

We need to know you’re in, so on the day it’ll just be a case of giving you all the tools you need to reign supreme. Tournament admission will be open from 6:30pm until 7pm so that we can make sure everybody can be arranged into matches. The tournament kicks off at 7:30pm with Mario Kart up first.

This is what all that training, eating pizza in front of the telly has been for! The winner of each tournament will win an original boxed 32bit console, making you the envy of all your friends.
